Fall is almost here, and that means it’s time to prep your closet! Get ready to shake off the summer heat and embrace the cool, crisp air with a fresh new wardrobe. With each passing year, new trends emerge, and 2023 is no exception. From classic white tees to wide-leg pants, this season's fashion trends are bringing it back to basics with a blend of minimalism, comfort, and 90s nostalgia.

I’m sharing my favorite fall fashion trends for 2023, offering you a blend of style and comfort to help you navigate the seasonal shift with confidence and flair. Get ready to bring some classics back into rotation and refresh with some new must-have pieces (or if you’re a fellow 90s babe dig out some oldies from the attic of years past haha) for the 2023 fall season!

Classic white shirt

Fall 2023 is bringing it back to basics with the classic white shirt trend. It’s all about embracing the ready-to-wear staple pieces we all know and love like basic white t-shirts and button-downs for ultimate versatility, comfort, and effortlessness!

Relaxed fit denim and pants

90s pant styles are making a comeback! Skinny jeans are out and the 2023 fall season is all about oversized and relaxed-fit bottoms like straight-leg, bootcut, wide-leg, and bell bottoms. Adding to the list of 90s nostalgia, utility and cargo pants are back in! (Also low rise is back too, but I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan in the 90s and I’m still not, but if you can rock them then I absolutely envy you)

Cropped tops and jackets

As a petite girl, the cropped trend will forever be a wardrobe staple for me but I’m excited that it’s now considered on trend for the 2023 fall season! Cropped tops and jackets are going to be must-have pieces, and they look even more effortlessly chic when paired with the oversized pant trend. This is definitely a style that I will continue to take full advantage of this fall!

Swing-style mini dresses

Like I said before, oversized and loose-fitting pieces are going to be hot for fall 2023, that includes the swing-style mini dress trend. They’re not only a good wardrobe staple item, but they’re perfect for layering and can be paired with anything. A swing-style mini dress would look super cute styled with a sweater layered on top, paired with a cropped jacket, or even an oversized cardigan.

Western and cowboy boots

The western and cowboy boot trend has been a hot commodity since last year and shows no signs of slowing down. From the classic western style to the coastal cowgirl aesthetic, these boots are proving to be so versatile for year-round styling, especially when it comes to the fall season!

Shirt dresses

Shirt dresses are a great closet staple that will be a must-have this season! They’re comfortable, versatile, effortless, and ready to wear, which definitely seems to be the theme for fall 2023. Pair with a cute pair of boots and you’ve got an easy fall outfit that’s ready in seconds!

Cashmere sweaters

Another great staple for the fall season that will be on trend for this year is the classic cashmere sweater. As with the other trends for fall, I think we’ll definitely be seeing lots of cropped and oversized options — maybe even cashmere sweater dresses too!

Leather, corduroy, and shearling

Some of my favorite materials and textures are going to be on-trend for fall 2023! Leather is a great fall staple regardless, but aside from the classic leather jacket, wide-leg leather pants, leather dresses, skirts, and oversized leather coats are going to must-haves this season for sure. 90s babes, don’t freak out but corduroy is back! Think corduroy jackets, mini skirts, overall dresses, and wide-leg pants. Another good staple (especially for cool fall days) is shearling! I personally bring out my shearling jackets and coats for winter but I love that I can bring them out a season early to create some on-trend looks.

Oversized scarves

Another absolute fall favorite of mine is an oversized scarf so I love that they’re going to be trending this fall! Think long-length and wide-width scarves, like the blanket scarf! Blanket scarves are oversized, comfortable, versatile, and effortless, which perfectly nails this year’s theme so it’s no wonder why it’s one of the scarves on trend for 2023! Tbh, there’s nothing more fall than wrapping yourself in a blanket and cozying up with pumpkin spiced latte (or apple cider) so you can bet you’ll be seeing me styling a blanket scarf this fall season!
